Effect of NaCl on the self-aggregation of n-octyl [beta]-D-thioglucopyranoside in aqueous medium
Article Abstract:
The effect of sodium chloride (NaCl) on the micellization, surface activity, and the evolution in the shape and size of n-octyl-[beta]-D-thioglucopyranoside (OTG) aggregates is investigated. The cmc values of OTG decreases as the NaCl concentration decreases and the adsorption data in the air-liquid interface showed that the adsorption of the surfactant occurs spontaneously and becomes more favorable in the presence of increasing NaCl concentrations.

Fermi level alignment in self-assembled molecular layers: The effect of coupling chemistry
Article Abstract:
Photoelectron spectroscopy is used to explore the changes in Fermi level alignment, within the pi-pi* gap, arising from modifications to the coupling chemistry of conjugated phenylene ethynylene oligomers to the Au surface. Changing the coupling group from thiol to isocyanide has degraded the energetic alignment for hole injection into the pi levels of the oligomer at the molecule-Au interface.
